Australia Day Awards

Overview

Council honours its residents with Australia Day Awards on Australia Day, 26th January.

Australia Day is the biggest day of celebration in the country and is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.

On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.

In the Snowy Valleys Council, Australia Day is celebrated in the towns of Adelong, Batlow, Talbingo, Tumbarumba and Tumut. Australia Day awards are presented at the Tumut & Tumbarumba Ceremonies.

Council's Australia Day Committee calls for public nominations for awards each year and nomination forms for the Awards can be downloaded here from September.

More information about Australia Day can be found on the Australia Day Council of NSW website: australiaday.com.au
