Author Talk at the Library

Join debut Author and former Tumut resident Stephanie Parkyn for an Author Talk on her novel Into the World.

The novel is based on the true story of Marie-Louise Victoire Girardin (1754-1794), possibly the first European woman to visit Van Diemen's Land.

Research for Into the World took debut author Stephanie Parkyn from the coasts of Tasmania, through the islands of New Caledonia and Tonga and to Paris and Versailles tracing the extraordinary life of Marie-Louise Girardin, the woman who disguised herself as a man on a voyage to Australia and the South Pacific in the 1790s.

Stephanie will talk about this journey to understand her characters, as well as her own journey of learning to write compelling fiction that appeals to publishers and the lessons she learnt along the way.

Tumut Library, Monday 19 February from 12.30pm.  A light lunch will be provided.
