A host of local community organisations have been boosted in the latest round of funding distributed by the Tumbarumba Small Community Grants program.

Nineteen community organisations from across the wider Tumbarumba region have been awarded their share of more than $44,000 for projects including infrastructure improvements, local events and sports equipment.

The annual grants program is administered through a partnership of Snowy Valleys Council, the Hyne Community Trust and Tumbarumba Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank.

Snowy Valleys Council Acting Mayor John Larter congratulated the successful recipients.

“It’s fantastic to see so many groups applying and getting involved in these opportunities and the successful projects will continue to build upon our already strong communities,” Mr Larter said.

The 2018 funding round received over 30 applications to the value of $115,000.

Dale McLachlan Chair of the Hyne Community Trust said there was ‘good diversity’ in the groups chosen to receive funding.

“This is a positive sign, and the funding that we have handed out can only further strengthen the local Tumbarumba community,” he said.
