Local businesses and operators involved in the visitor economy are being invited to showcase their business or organisation in the new Snowy Valleys Visitor Guide, set to launch in time for summer 2019.

“The new Snowy Valleys Visitor Guide is the next stage in the roll-out of our new regional destination brand,” said Gus Cox, Council’s Director of Strategy, Community and Development.

“The Visitor Guide will complement the recently launched Visit-Snowy-Valleys website and be the next in a suite of materials used to promote the Snowy Valleys region as an ideal option for a holiday or day trip destination”.

The guide aims to showcase the vast array of natural features, attractions, accommodation options, adventure possibilities, and foodie experiences on offer across the Snowy Valleys region. The individual towns and villages of the Snowy Valleys, each with their attractions and distinct personalities, will also be highlighted, giving visitors details of local accommodation options and services.

Mr Cox said any businesses providing goods or services to visitors in the Snowy Valleys region are invited to submit an expression of interest to be featured in the Snowy Valleys Visitor Guide.

“Preference will be given to businesses located within the Snowy Valleys Council area but, since visitors do not care about Council borders, those in surrounding areas are also invited to apply,” he said. “Free listings are also available for local not-for-profit and/or volunteer-run organisations who operate tourism related businesses or attractions within the Snowy Valleys”.

Council plans to produce a new guide on a bi-annual basis, so businesses and organisations who purchase a listing will have their business promoted through the Snowy Valleys Visitor Guide for the next two years.

Development of the new tourism branding, and related marketing pieces, including the new tourism website, is a key deliverable from Council’s Destination Management Plan, and provides the next step in the process of promoting the Snowy Valleys Council Region as a visitor destination.
