Live music comes to Tumut this Friday December 1 as acclaimed Melbourne and Sydney based bands ‘Julia Why’ and ‘Tempus Sun’ perform at the Evolution Dance Studio.

Joining local support artists, ‘Julia Why’ and ‘Tempus Sun’ will rock the stage in Tumut as part of Snowy Valleys Council all ages live music initiative, backed by funding through Indent MusicNSW.

Snowy Valleys Youth Development Officer Evan Saunders said that the MusicNSW funding was the result of a successful grant application to deliver a live show local music fans, particularly for those who can’t see live music in pubs or clubs due to age.

“It gives our local young music fans and performers the chance to experience a live act that might usually be playing in venues that they can’t access. It’s also encouraging for those in high school who have the ambition to enter the music industry. This gives them some experience in helping put together a live music event,” he said.

The local line-up includes Year 11 and 12 music students Tumut High along with some younger up and coming performers from McAuley Catholic School who will rock out with some classic rock riffs.

Well-known local singer Laura Rampling will be accompanied by Bren O'Brien to round out the local contingent before the Tempus Sun, the first of the main acts, grace the stage.

Since forming as a band only just a year ago, Tempus Sun have invented their own blend of energetic, driving indie rock and are fronted by the powerful vocals of a local Tumut singer and songwriter, Andrew Wortes.

“Tempus Sun have enjoyed recent success across MTV and Rage with their opening music video for ‘Owls’. Their recently released EP goes beyond the usual boundaries of pop, incorporating and exploring indie and rock inspired notes,” he said.

“JuliaWhy? makes melodic, femme-driven rock music with a punk undercurrent. The Sydney-based trio has just shared the first single off their sophomore album – Candy. This is one act not to be missed,” said Mr Saunders

This is a drug and alcohol free event. Light refreshments and band merchandise will be available for purchase on the evening. Under 12s must be supervised. Doors open at 6:30pm.
