Funding to provide social, financial and cultural benefits to the communities in the Tumbarumba region will be available again this year, with the Tumbarumba Community Small Grants program opening for applications from 20 May.

The grant program is funded by Snowy Valleys Council in partnership with the Tumbarumba Bendigo Bank and the Hyne Community Trust and supports a variety of projects in the community including arts and cultural activities, sport and recreation, community welfare, heritage and tourism.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor Cr James Hayes said the grant is a great opportunity for not-for-profit organisations across the Tumbarumba region to seek support for a local program or initiative.

“Council is incredibly proud to be partnering with Hyne Community Trust and the Tubmarumba Bendigo Bank to provide this community grants program, which supports grass-root activities, events and programs across the Tumbarumba region,” Cr Hayes said.

In 2018/19 the Grant Committee gave out just under $45,000 in grant funding for 20 local projects including trestle table top replacements for the Tumbarumba PA&H Society, funds to support the Tooma Three Bridges Markets and an electricity upgrade at the Rosewood Golf Club.

“I encourage all community groups who have a community project in mind to apply this year,” Cr Hayes said. ”With funding of up to $5000 available, this can mean the difference to a project or event’s success.

The 2019 Tumbarumba Community Small Grant program opened on Monday 20 May and applications close Saturday 22 June 2019.
