Providing first hand updates on progress with projects and future plans has been high on the agenda as Snowy Valleys’ Councillors travel throughout the region sharing their experiences after 12 months in office.

Mayor James Hayes said the anniversary roadshow was an opportunity for Councillors to connect with people in their communities and have a face-to-face chat.

“It’s a great way to meet people in a relaxed environment and find out what they’re passionate about and to share what we, as Councillors are passionate about too,” Cr Hayes said.

The roadshow kicked off in Adelong at the Adelong Markets on Saturday the 29 of September and has travelled through Khancoban, Talbingo, Rosewood, Tumut, Tumbarumba, Batlow and Brungle over the last few weeks.

What was different to the listening tour held back in March was that Councillors were able to report on what they had achieved over the 12 months since the 2017 elections, and share some new approaches Council was undertaking to engage the community in the decision making process, including the upcoming service level review project.

“We have been very gratified with the turnout at each event and really enjoyed the conversations, debates and discussion that continue to help us to understand the priorities of residents and our communities,” Cr Hayes said.

The final two stops on the anniversary roadshow are Jingellic on Tuesday 30 October from 10.30 to 11.30 at the Jingellic Hall, and Tooma where Council will have a stand at the Tooma Three Bridges Markets on Saturday 3 November.

We encourage everyone who can, to come along and have a chat. We’re looking forward to re-connecting as we work to build and support our communities,” Cr Hayes said.
