Talbingo and Khancoban residents can expect to see some exciting changes in the coming months with Council requesting tenders for the construction of two key infrastructure projects for the towns.

Council secured funding of $395,000 to enhance the amenity of the Khancoban shopping precinct and $225,000 for a new playground and community area in the Talbingo shopping precinct through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.

Director of Assets and Infrastructure Matt Christensen says Council is looking forward to engaging contractors so construction of these highly-anticipated improvement projects can begin.

“The new playground and sheltered picnic area planned for Talbingo will take advantage of the views across Jounama Pondage and create a welcoming place for friends and families to get together,” he said.

“The concept designs for the adventure playground have cleverly captured Talbingo’s natural environment while incorporating features like concrete pipes to reference the Snowy Hydro Scheme”.

Mr Christensen says landscaping and beautification works planned for the Khancoban shopping precinct will help to create welcoming and visually appealing spaces for locals and visitors.

“At a community meeting in May we invited residents to comment on the concept plans and once a contractor is engaged that feedback will be considered in relation to the final scope of works”.

Requests for tender close at 12pm on Friday 28 June.  Documentation is available via Council’s tenderlink website www.tenderlink.com/snowyvalleys.
