Members of the Tumut and Tumbarumba Youth Councils came together recently, for a get-to-know-you day out.

Seven members of the Tumut Youth Council and six members from the Tumbarumba Youth Council travelled together to Wagga Wagga in late January for a day of team building and fun.

Council’s General Manager Matthew Hyde said the excursion represented an important opportunity for the Youth Council members to get to know each other better.

“The Youth Councils represent from every corner of the Snowy Valleys area, and it is fantastic to see them working and interacting well together," Mr Hyde said.

The group, led by Council’s Youth Development Officer Evan Saunders enjoyed three rounds of Laser Tag before a pizza lunch on the beach in Wagga Wagga.

The return trip was topped off with a swim at Adelong Falls before arriving back in Tumut late in the afternoon.

Both Youth Councils meet monthly and work on developing youth directed projects and activities for young people across the Council area.

Youth Council is open to local youth ages 12 to 25yrs and encourages young people to volunteer in their respective communities and advocate for their own local peers to Council.
