Councillor John Larter, Deputy Mayor
“It’s about being able to promote the region, and look for opportunities for businesses.”
John Larter has four years’ experience as a former Councillor for Tumut Shire Council, three years serving as Deputy Mayor, and one as Mayor.
John’s key aims for Snowy Valleys Council is to provide opportunities for the region’s children and youth to be healthy and active, through infrastructure investment in sporting facilities.
John’s list of achievements as a former councillor includes lobbying for the Gocup Road upgrade, forging strong links with other levels of government and industry and the introduction of a state of the art emergency response and recovery management system that is now recognised as best practice.
John is Tumut’s leading paradmedic, and has a young family in Tumut.
John is future focused and determined to look to the future. He’s excited to explore tourism for the region through the development of key events and wants to invest in better road infrastructure.
John recognises the opportunities that the increased funding for regional New South Wales by the State Government presents, and would like a dedicated grants officer available to prepare grant applications for council and to assist community organisations with their submissions.
