Snowy Valleys Council is led by an Chief Executive Officer and comprises two departments, each headed by an Executive Director.  The Executive team also includes an Executive Chief Of Staff and a Chief Financial Officer.

Chief Executive Officer - Matthew Hyde

Matthew has over 25  years’ experience in local Council from traineeship positions through to executive positions in Queensland and New South Wales.

He has a strong background in developing resilient work-forces and communities that are able to manage the changes that future growth and diversity bring. With senior strategic leadership skills and a strong business development background including a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from the University of Southern Queensland, and a graduate of the Company Directors Program, he has been instrumental in engaging with the community, setting strategy, developing plans, and obtaining commitment from senior teams, elected representatives and government to achieve desired results.

With his personal values of safety, equity, integrity and respect, Matthew is focused on strengthening community engagement and strategic management to deliver high quality and affordable services in partnership with the Snowy Valleys Community and the Canberra and Riverina regions

Executive Director Infrastructure - Heinz Kausche 

Heinz has 20 years’ experience in Local Government in both operational and management roles.

He has extensive senior management experience in quality service delivery, major project and contract management in both the public and private sectors. Heinz holds a Masters in Business and a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management along with Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering

Executive Director Community & Corporate - Paul Holton 

Paul has worked in local government for 30 years and has more than 15 years experience as a senior executive. He is an accomplished public sector leader who has worked across a broad range of local government portfolios and in a range of roles including Manager, Director, General Manager and CEO.

Paul comes from Metung in Victoria and most recently held the position of Director Development with the East Gippsland Shire Council. This role encompassed strategic leadership across Land Use Planning, Building Approvals, Environmental Health, Local Laws, Recreation Facilities, Economic Development and Commercial Enterprises.

Chief Financial Officer - Susanne Andres

Susanne has over 15 years commercial experience in business and financial management in Australia and overseas, and for the past four years held finance management roles with two Queensland Local Councils.

She brings a whole-of-organisation approach to financial and resource management with a strong background in people development and strategy implementation.

Executive Chief Of Staff - Shelley Jones

Shelley has 15 years’ experience in Local Government in NSW in a variety of roles in both community and corporate teams.

Degree qualified in Business and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Shelley has extensive experience in marketing and events, strategic planning and engagement with communities.
