Tumut Saleyards Committee

Overview

The Tumut Saleyards Committee is an advisory committee to Council on all aspects of Tumut Saleyards.  A condition of operating the Saleyards (issued by Safe Food Production NSW – Meat Branch) requires Council to comply with the Code of Practice for the Selling of Cattle and Bobby Calves in NSW Saleyards. Clause 4.15 of the Code requires Council to establish and maintain a Saleyards Advisory Committee.

The aims of the committee are to:

  • Recommend to Council a Capital Improvement Program
  • Recommend to Council management issues
  • Monitor income and expenditure

Council owns the facilities and land on which the saleyards are located

Delegates

Membership of the committee is not compulsory, but it should comprise at least representatives from local Stock and Station Agents, livestock carriers, livestock producer, buyer, Veterinarian, a Councillor and Snowy Valleys Council Staff.
