 Local kids can enjoy a host of budget friendly activities, events and workshops during the school holidays.

The Snowy Valleys Autumn school holiday program is jam-packed full of events for kids of all ages.  The aim of the programs is to provide a variety of safe, affordable and rewarding recreation, leisure and skills development opportunities for young people.

Youth Airwaves: An Introduction to Podcasting and Radio Programming

You're invited to a hands-on introduction to podcasting and radio programming, presented by Snowy Valleys Council and the Resilient Towns Initiative. Learn tips + tricks for using production equipment and hear from local young people about their experience in broadcasting and programming for radio and podcasts. Note: This is a single afternoon demonstration to introduce the basics. Additional training opportunities will be advertised across the region.

Learner Logbook - Mannus Lake, Tumbarumba

Do you have your L's or need hours for your log book?   Are you about to get your License? Do you have your Red P Plates? Are you new to Australian Driving conditions? 

An opportunity for you and your supervisor to experience a variety of driving conditions within the Snowy Valleys to increase safe driver behaviour. Supervising participants must have an Australian driving licence.

Encounter:

  • Trucks and blind spots
  • Livestock
  • School Buses

Cost: Free

RFS/SES Demonstration - Tumbarumba

Here's your chance to meet representatives from the local emergency services, including the Rural Fire Service (RFS), local Fire Brigade and State Emergency Services (SES). Hear about the important work they do to keep our communities safe, see safety demonstrations and join in a fun games afternoon. Games and demonstrations are catered to young people aged 10+ and representatives will be happy to discuss future opportunities for local youth to become volunteers.  Registrations on arrival.

Five Days of Frivolous Fun with Roald Dahl - Revolting Repertoir

A four-day drama residency for students aged 7 to 12.  Using the magic of the performing arts, students will delve into the wonderful world of Roald Dahl, exploring his stories, poems and revoltingly hilarious characters. Finishing the week with a mega mix of marvelous moments in a showcase performance for friends and family

Vegetable Plot - Batlow, Tumbarumba and Tumut

Ladies and Gentle stems, bulbs and girls, it's time to shake your stems, do the jumping bean and twist and sprout with the freshest bunch in town!!

The Vegetable Plot is an internationally award-winning band on a mission of Love and Peas. Serving up a bumper crop of catchy tunes, colourful characters, sweet harmonies, dances, jokes and truly rotten puns, this soilful bunch will plant seeds of inspiration in your hearts that will blossom for years to come. Their music is earthy, rootsy, organic and layered, offering plenty of funky goodness for parents to sink their teeth into while the little ones are shaking their stems on the dance floor.

Creative Rock Painting - Khancoban, Rosewood and Tumbarumba

Join us for a fun and creative afternoon. A perfect workshop designed for creative kids to let their imagination run wild and try the new crazy of painting rocks. All materials are supplied. Enjoy a scrumptious morning/afternoon tea after creating your masterpiece.

3 Hour Theatre Bootcamp - Tumut

A three hour drama masterclass for students aged 12 to 18.  Tailored for the Montreal Community Theatre this is the perfect opportunity for young and hungry actors to build stage confidence and develop a skills set used in auditions, rehearsals, storytelling and performance. 

Free bus transport is available for those wishing to participate in regions outside of Tumut. Bus departs and returns from Countrylink bus stops in Tumbarumba and Batlow.

Cost: Free -  limited to 35 places.

MTB Shuttle Day - Tumbarumba

All the downs with none of the ups! 
Ride the Tumba Flow Trails over and over with shuttle bus to take you to the top. Participants must have an AusCycling membership (or day licence) 

Riders will need a functioning bike and helmet (everything works). Meet at the top of Mason’s Hill, or catch the bus from Tumut/Batlow.

Free Skate Workshop - Tumbarumba

Join Totem at Tumbarumba Skatepark to attend one of thier free learn to skate classes.

Totem believe in having a go, so students are encouraged to go at their own pace under the guidance of thier coaches. By combining both the physical and creative elements of skateboarding, Totem gives students the opportunity to try out and practice a wide and unique variety of skills to build self-esteem in a fun, safe, and supported environment.

Their beginner class is for skill level 0 to 1 and the intermediate class is for skill level 2 to 3.
