Come and GATHER with friends

Family friendly free GATHER festival events will be held across the region starting in Batlow on Sunday 15 November.

• Batlow – Sunday 15 November - 10am-3pm at the Batlow Showgrounds
• Adelong – Friday 20 November - 5pm-9pm at Memorial Park

• Tumut – Friday 27 November - 5pm-9pm at Bila Park
• Tumbarumba – Friday 4 December - 5pm-9pm at the Creekscape

Snowy Valleys Council with support from the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network and the National Bushfire Recovery Agency are hosting four free events in Batlow, Adelong, Tumut and Tumbarumba during November and December to bring fire impacted communities back together.

The mini-festival style events are designed for communities to ‘GATHER’ and have some fun in a social setting. 

“Social interaction is one of the foundations of disaster recovery and this year COVID restrictions have dramatically limited social activities and our opportunity as communities to celebrate, heal and gather together,” said Mayor James Hayes.

“These events are not just for fire impacted residents, they are for all the volunteers who work to keep our community safe, the agencies who have supported our region through recovery and anyone who wants to head out for a good time to celebrate this tough year coming to a close,” he said.

Popular local artists including Velvetsmyle, Molly Waters, Amiee Zabbia and Rory Phillips will provide live entertainment and creative workshops will showcase the region’s diverse arts including a belly dancing group and inspiring artists from the Tumut Art Society.

Food trucks will offer tasty treats to purchase including American BBQ, woodfire pizza, potato slinkys and soft serve ice-cream or pack a picnic basket along with your rug and chairs.

“This is a wonderful initiative and I encourage everyone to come along and catch up with their mates, enjoy the local entertainment, some fabulous food and a well-deserved celebration in a COVID safe and responsible way,” said Cr Hayes.
