Snowy Valleys Council is undertaking a Tumut Central Traffic and Parking Study to help inform a future Tumut township Masterplan.

The study will investigate traffic and parking issues in the Central Activity District of Tumut, including the use and management of parking during busy periods, potential traffic flow issues and connectivity for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

Community and businesses can provide feedback to inform the study by taking a short online survey or attending a community drop in information session on Thursday 4 August.

The Parking study work will broadly involve the identification of issues and recommendations with a focus on parking, including the supply and design of parking bays to best use road space and accommodate existing and future growth in demand.

Pedestrian access and safety will also be considered through consideration of desire lines, accessibility, road safety and place making.

The area for the Study covers Wynyard Street, Capper Street, Russell Street, Fuller Street and is bounded by Merivale Street in the North, Richmond Street in the South, Simpson Street in the West and Fitzroy Street in the East.

The need for a Tumut township masterplan is a requirement of the SVC Local Strategic Planning Statement (SVC LSPS), to focus on improving accessibility and amenity with the view to increasing activity within, and the viability of, the downtown areas.

Council aims to deliver a Town Masterplan for Tumut by 2025.
