Snowy Valleys Council has launched a new online community engagement platform called Your Voice Snowy Valleys.

The new web portal sits side-by-side with Council’s corporate website and will, over time, host many opportunities for community participation in Council projects and plans through quick surveys, questioning tools, interactive question and answer sessions and even budget allocation tools.

Council’s General Manager Matthew Hyde said the new Your Voice site is just another way Council is fostering transparent, inclusive and meaningful community engagement.

“Your Voice Snowy Valleys gives our community members the opportunity to have their say on issues, projects and opportunities that are important to them, at a time and place of their choice,” Mr Hyde said.

“Traditional community consultation often involves attending 'town hall' meetings or providing written submissions to Council, and this can be time consuming, inconvenient and sometimes daunting.  Your Voice Snowy Valleys provides an online opportunity to have your say on issues, projects and opportunities that are important to you,” Mr Hyde explained.

People can use the engagement portal to have their say on a range of projects and issues and the site will, over time, host quick surveys, questioning tools, interactive question and answer sessions and even budget allocation tools.

Mr Hyde said the more of our community who provides their voice, the better Council can understand the different issues, priorities and drivers of the community and use it in the decision making process.

“We know that information and knowledge from the community is a crucial part in shaping recommendations for Council consideration and decision making on projects, services and spending,” he said.

Mr Hyde went on to say “We will continue to take the time to conduct community meetings and face to face feedback opportunities across the whole of the Snowy Valleys area, but we also realise that we need to be able to provide a way for our community to reach out to us 24/7, from the comfort of their own home, in their own time.

“With so many exciting projects coming up in the next 12 months, we also want to ensure we have an effective way to provide information, updates and invite feedback as they move off the drawing board and into planning and construction.”
