Local not-for-profit groups and community organisations across the Snowy Valleys are invited to apply for a new Recovery and Resilience Grants program to promote and support community well-being, social and broader recovery and future disaster resilience.

Snowy Valleys Council continues to support local communities following the black summer bushfires with the release of a new round of community grants – The Snowy Valleys Council Recovery and Resilience Grants Program.

Mayor James Hayes said that thanks to Government bushfire recovery funding Council was pleased to be able to offer grants of between $500 and $5,000 for local projects that will benefit the region’s ongoing recovery process.

"Programs which are initiated and led by residents and community groups have a positive influence in the region’s recovery journey and I am proud that council can offer this new grant program to further assist our region as we continue to heal and strengthen,” he said.

Eligible activities and projects may include access to arts and cultural events, social activities or community run events, workshops and seminars, community artworks or the purchase of equipment to add additional benefit to the services community groups can provide.

The Snowy Valleys Council Recovery and Resilience Grant Program will be administered in one round and is independent of other Council administered grants and sponsorship programs.

A total of $62,500 in grant monies has been allocated under the program for Snowy Valleys based applications of between $500 and $5,000.

“This is an excellent opportunity for individuals and groups who have ideas and plans for projects and initiatives that will have ongoing positive benefits for our communities to put in a grant application for funding support,” Cr Hayes said.

The funding is available as part of the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF), through the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Applications open on Monday 19th April 2021 and close Friday 28th May 2021 local not-for-profit groups and community organisations are invited to apply.

Funded under the Bushfire Community Resilience and Recovery Fund.
