Snowy Valleys Council is calling for submissions from local community hall committees to host the next Festival of Small Halls event on Friday the 3rd of April 2020.

Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours organised by Woodfordia Inc that takes the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists and sends them on the road to small halls in communities all over Australia.

Council’s Acting Director Phil Stone said the Snowy Valleys area has hosted four previous Festival of Small Halls events including the 2019 event held at the Lacmalac Soldiers Memorial Hall.

“This event is an excellent platform providing fundraising opportunities for local hall committees and community groups as well as providing a wonderful live musical performance which draws in audience members from the local area and across the region,” Mr Stone said.

The successful hall committee or community group will be required to work with the touring group on tasks including marketing, ticket sales, securing an MC for the night, catering, hall decorating and clean up after the event.

“Groups can benefit financially from the Festival of Small Halls through sales of food and drink on the night, raffles or other activities they may wish to organize,” said Mr Stone.

Snowy Valleys Council will support the successful community group/hall committee with underwriting of expenses and other assistance.

In 2020 Festival of Small Halls’ audiences can expect a beautiful night of original music featuring headline act The Paul McKenna Band from Scotland, supported by Australia’s own Alana Wilkinson.

To submit an Expression of Interest to host the event applicants are required to state why their hall should be chosen and provide information on the resources, volunteers and skills available within their committee.

The Festival of Small Halls Expression of Interest Form can be downloaded from Council’s website www.svc.nsw.gov.au/EOI

Applications close at 5pm Friday 15 November 2019.
