Precautionary Level 5 water restrictions will apply for residents living in Adelong, Brungle, Cloverdale and Tumut on the following dates:

  • Monday 20 July to Thursday 23 July 2020
  • Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August 2020

Residents in Adelong, Brungle, Cloverdale and Tumut will be asked to reduce their outdoor water use over late July and early August as WaterNSW undertakes essential maintenance at the Blowering Dam.

Council’s Executive Director Infrastructure Heinz Kausche said the maintenance by WaterNSW at the Blowering Dam will significantly impact river flows and the river height in the Tumut River, particularly above the confluence of the Goobarragandra River.

“The impact on river flows will also impact the availability of water at both the Brungle and Tumut Water Treatment Plants, so we are enacting level 5 water restrictions as a precautionary measure to ensure that the supply of reticulated water is maintained for indoor use and essential services,” he said.

The Level 5 water restrictions are largely focused on limits to outdoor water use including no use of fixed sprinklers or hoses for watering gardens and lawns, using garden drip systems only during set times, washing cars only with the use of buckets, and no hosing of outdoor pavements/driveways.

“Community outdoor water usage at this time of year is generally fairly low so enacting the precautionary level 5 restrictions should not have too much of an impact on residents during the two weeks of the maintenance works,” Mr Kausche said.

WaterNSW has advised that they will undertake essential maintenance at Blowering Dam in late July and early August causing the temporary halt to water releases into the Tumut River. For more information on the essential maintenance visit www.waternsw.com.au/supply/visit/blowering-dam
