Snowy Valleys Council will meet with NSW Premier, the Hon Gladys Berejiklian in Sydney as part of the Canberra Region Joint Organisation meeting.

As part of a delegation to the Canberra Region Joint Organisation meeting to be held in Sydney on the 2nd and 3rd of May, Council has also secured an individual deputation with the Premier.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes said that they anticipated updating the Premier on Snowy Valleys Council key initiatives as well as regional issues.

“We will be providing an update on various key issues including our amalgamation successes and how we are working towards future programs,” Cr Hayes said.

Subjects on the agenda will include the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail progress, the Tumut Hospital program of works and facilities and an early stage concept for a proposed Education and Business Centre of Excellence.

Cr Hayes said the individual meeting will be a chance to strengthen partnerships between the Council and State Government with a focus on capital and social investment in the area.

“This is an important opportunity to update the Premier on our successes and also to highlight where we require the state’s assistance to continue to progress,” Cr Hayes said.

Canberra Region Joint Organisation meeting will also be an opportunity for the Snowy Valleys delegation to network and meet with other ministers to discuss wider regional issues affecting the Snowy Valleys region.

Other NSW dignitaries attending and speaking at the two day event include The Hon. Adam Marshall MP, NSW minister for Tourism; The Hon. Melinda Pavey MP, Minister for Roads & Maritime Services and The Hon. Niall Blair MLC, Minister for Agriculture & Water Resources.

“We’ll be making the most of meeting with the ministers and letting them know more about how they can help us and in turn how we can help them to achieve their goals,” Cr Hayes said.
