Expressions of Interest Invited for Land Sales

Snowy Valleys Council is seeking expressions of interest for the purchase of a number of land blocks in Tumbarumba.

Currently owned by Council the land lots in Gilbert Street and McMeekin Street are surplus to Council requirements and have been placed up for sale.

Snowy Valleys Council’s Acting Director Assets and Infrastructure Heinz Kausche said Council supported the decision to sell off the blocks as there has already been interest shown from potential buyers.

“By offering the land for sale we hope it will promote and attract further development in the area,” Mr Kausche said. 

LOT 1 DP1148834 in McMeekin Street, Tumbarumba, is a 7,359m² freehold block with no existing buildings, currently zoned as IN2 Light Industrial and has development restrictions.

The two land parcels in Gilbert Street are LOT 9 SECTION 16 DP759003 & LOT 82 DP630704. Both blocks are subject to easements and are currently being used for grazing.  The total of both lots is approximately 3,300m².

Mr Kausche said if successful the land sales would provide benefits to Council including short term income from the sale and ongoing savings in operation and maintenance costs.

“Also a significant advantage will be the potential social and economic gains for Tumbarumba from a more appropriate use of the land and the opportunity to attract development in the area,” Mr Kausche said.
