Khancoban residents can expect to see some exciting changes in the coming months with landscaping and beautification works about to get underway at the shopping precinct.

The tender for the streetscape improvements works was recently awarded to Arcscape Landscape Services and work is scheduled to commence in early September.

Heinz Kausche, Council’s Acting Director of Assets and Infrastructure said the streetscape improvements included improved pedestrian access, upgrades to existing garden beds, landscaping and lots of new seating areas.

“The planned landscaping and beautification works will help to create a boost to the shopping area and improve the appeal and community aspects of the space for locals and visitors,” he said.

Council is facilitating introductions between local shop owners and the contractor to ensure a smooth transition and good relations.

“While there may be some short term changes to access and increased noise levels during the build we don’t anticipate too much upheaval for businesses while the works are underway,” said Mr Kausche.

Snowy Valleys Council received funding of $395,000 from the NSW Government’s Major Projects Infrastructure Fund to implement streetscape improvements to enhance the amenity of the Khancoban shopping precinct.

Work is scheduled to be completed by December 2019.
