Snowy Valleys Council has accepted the resignation of CEO Matthew Hyde, following almost five years working with the organisation.

CEO Matthew Hyde said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as CEO and I am particularly proud of our achievements with the inaugural Snowy Valleys Council.

“This organisation has performed exceptionally well during this time, faced a number of challenges including the Black Summer Bushfires and improved community infrastructure.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this organisation and I think the staff do an amazing job in servicing the many and diverse needs of the community, often in very challenging circumstances.”

In accepting the resignation Mayor Ian Chaffey thanked Matthew for his commitment to the job and wished him all the best for the future.

“I honestly believe Matthew’s contribution stands Snowy Valleys Council in good stead for the future,” Cr Chaffey said.

“While Mr Hyde remains a contracted employee until the 8 July 2022, today’s decision allows Council the opportunity to head off in a new direction,” said Cr Chaffey.

“We will get the recruitment process underway as soon as possible and look to recruit a new General Manager at the same time as the three new Directors, which will give us a level of strategic efficiencies into the future.”

Council will also consider the appointment of an acting CEO/GM to support the Council and the organisation during the recruitment phase.
