Local Businesses are being invited to attend an Employer Information Session to learn about attracting apprenticeships, traineeships, and school-based apprenticeships to support employment and career opportunities for local youth.

Snowy Valleys Council is partnering with Training Services NSW to promote and support employment and career opportunities for youth in the Snowy Valleys region via the ‘Succeed in the Snowy Valleys’ program.

Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton said businesses who attend will be provided with information about current programs and information on financial incentives for employing young people.

“The Succeed in the Snowy Valleys program will provide employers the opportunity to ask questions, seek further information as well as providing an opportunity to register their business to participate in programs for students,” Mr Holton said.

Council currently employs six trainees across childcare, business, project management, and finance plus two apprentice horticulturists and two apprentice mechanics.

“Apprentices and trainees can bring new approaches and new ways of thinking to business and investing in an apprentice or trainee promotes innovative thinking and access to the latest training and knowledge,” said Mr Holton.

The two ‘Succeed in the Snowy Valleys’ information sessions will be hosted in Tumut and Tumbarumba this October:

  • Tumut  - Tuesday 19th October 5pm-6pm at the Tumut River Brewing Co.
  • Tumbarumba - Wednesday 20th October 5pm-6pm at the Tumbarumba Bowling Club
