Funding to provide social, financial and cultural benefits to the Tumbarumba community will be available again this year, when the Tumbarumba Community Small Grants program opens for applications on 21 May.

The centralised grant program was launched in 2016, and is a three way partnership between Snowy Valleys Council, Tumbarumba Bendigo Bank and Hyne Trust.

The Tumbarumba Small Grants program supports a variety of projects in the community including arts and cultural activities, sport and recreation, community welfare, heritage and tourism.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes said the grant is a great example of a collaborative program to address issues that make a real difference to the sustainability of local communities.

“It’s through involvement and partnerships like this that help to make grants more accessible to associations and groups in the Tumbarumba region,” Cr Hayes said.

The grant program provides a single avenue for Tumbarumba area community organisations to access funding up to the value of $5,000 for their projects.

Together Snowy Valleys Council, Tumbarumba Bendigo Bank and Hyne gave out more than $41,000 in funding for the 2017 - 2018 financial year, funding fifteen local projects including five local events and the installation of equipment for community groups.

The annual grants program is administered through a partnership of Snowy Valleys Council, the Tumbarumba Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and the Hyne Trust.

Mayor Hayes said it is a great opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to seek support for a local program or initiative.

“The Tumbarumba Small Grants will look to support projects that will provide social, financial and cultural benefit to Tumbarumba community,” Cr Hayes said.

This year there is $40,000 in total available to support local projects and events.

The 2018 Tumbarumba Community Small Grant program opens on Monday 21 May and closes Friday 22 June at 5pm.
