Comedy Workshops for Youth Week

Local youth can develop their own style of stand-up comedy at Comedy Workshops coming to the Snowy Valleys in April as part of NSW Youth Week.
Aimed at youth aged 12 to 24 years, Snowy Valleys Council is proud to present the free Comedy Workshops run by professional stand-up comedian Anthony Lamond.
Anthony will take students for a peep behind the curtain and share his knowledge on what it takes to become a stand-up comedian.
Students can find their voice and develop their first five-minute set in a fun and supportive environment.
Rather than finding the funniest comedian the workshops are about helping and developing individuals to become more confident, have more self-belief, and build better resilience.
The workshops will be held at the Tumut Montreal Community Theatre on Monday 15 April, at Tumbarumba Nest Cinema Café on Tuesday 16 April, and at Batlow Literary Institute on Wednesday 17 April.
Each workshop will run for approximately four hours and cover:
- The science of laughter and why we laugh,
- Developing a character for stage,
- Sourcing material & writing for yourself,
- Stage craft and microphone technique,
- Shaping, editing & finalising your material,
- Producing your own show & building your own audience,
- Developing your first 5 min routine for your graduation performance.
The workshops will culminate in a Graduation Performance at the Batlow Literary Institute on Wednesday 17 April which will be open to the public.
NSW Youth Week runs from 11 to 21 April and the workshops are made possible with funding from the NSW Government’s Youth Week Program.
Workshops Dates:
- Monday 15th April – Tumut Montreal Theatre - 10am to 2pm
- Tuesday 16th April – Tumbarumba Nest Cinema Cafe – 10am to 2pm
- Wednesday 17th April – Batlow Literary Institute – 12pm to 4pm
