Australia Day

The 2022 Snowy Valleys Australia Day Celebrations will be held on Wednesday 26 January 2022 in Tumut’s Stockwell Gardens starting at 8am.

  • Presented by the Australia Day Working Group in partnership with Snowy Valleys Council this year’s event will again be run in a Covid-safe manner with social distancing encouraged and free hand sanitiser and face masks available at the venue.
  • The Rotary Club of Tumut will supply a free BBQ breakfast from 8am with complimentary coffee provided by The Coffee Pedaler.
  • The celebrations get underway from 8am with the official program commencing at 9am.
  • This year the ceremony will also be livestreamed on Council’s Youtube channel so those who are unable to attend in person can still be involved remotely.

Australia Day is the biggest day of celebration in the country and the 26 of January is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.

On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.
