Funding For New footpaths To Support Local Primary Schools
Published on 26 June 2024
Snowy Valleys Council welcomes funding from the NSW Government for the construction of footpaths to support travel for primary school students and families.
As part of the NSW Government’s Get NSW Active program SVC has been successful in being awarded over $100,000 for construction of footpaths in Brungle and Adelong to support travel for primary school students and families.
- $51,000 to finalise the existing footpath leading to the Brungle Primary School
- $56,000 for construction of a footpath at the front of the Adelong Primary School
The funding will enable the completion of the Brungle primary school footpath which currently ends abruptly 100m from the school grounds due to previous land ownership issues.
The construction of a footpath at the front of Adelong Primary School will provide students who currently must ride their bikes on the road or ride across the dirt and grass, an easy, safe, and convenient way to access the entrance to the school.
Council’s application to the Get NSW Active program for $5.4M to build the Batlow Cider Rail Trail was unsuccessful. Other avenues will now be explored to secure funding for this project.
More than 80 councils across NSW will share in $60 million to boost walking and cycling, with $10 million dedicated to supporting active travel to and from schools, as part of the NSW Government’s Get NSW Active program.
