Adelong Creek Riparian Stabilisation Work

Council has secured funding from the NSW Severe Weather and Flood Grant, provided by the NSW Office of Local Government, to clear debris along Adelong Creek’s public recreation areas and to design and repair the creek bank, reducing erosion and protecting native wildlife habitats.

The work will focus on two areas along the creek, one at Bleak Street (near Selwyn Street) and another behind the Adelong Showgrounds.

Planned works include:

Strengthening the creek bank with large timber and/or rock to prevent further erosion
Removing invasive plants and restoring native vegetation
Improving water quality and habitat for native wildlife
Making the area safer and more visually appealing
Providing better protection against minor flood events

Council has engaged NSW Soil Conservation Service (SCS), to carry out the works which are scheduled to begin in March 2026.
