Tumut’s youth precinct at the south-west corner of the Tumut Bull Paddock is about to get an upgrade with an expanded skate park.

The skatepark redevelopment is an exciting addition for Tumut’s youth and visitors to the area and is designed to cater for a younger, less skilled age group complementing the existing skate park.

Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes said he is pleased to see the expansion of the recreational space.

“Following on from the successful 2019 pump track build, the expanded skate park will be another fantastic facility for all ages and abilities to enjoy,” he said.

The new facility is aimed at beginner to intermediate skill levels, complementing the existing skate bowl which was developed for a more experienced user.

“We know that beginner level scooter riders and skateboarders often utilise the basketball court so the new skate park located between the basketball court and the existing skate bowl will provide a dedicated area they can use,” Mayor Hayes said.

“I’m sure it will be just another incentive to get the kids out of the house for some exercise and fun”.

Site set-up is due to get underway from late-September and the skate park is estimated to be completed in November, weather dependent.

Council received $137,230 in grant funding from the second round of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Fund to redevelop the existing Tumut Skate Park
