Snowy Valleys Council is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from eligible community representatives to join its pool of alternate panel members on the Southern Region Planning Panel (SRPP).

People with expertise or qualifications in planning, architecture, heritage, the environment, urban design, land economics, traffic and transport, law, engineering, tourism, or government and public administration are encouraged to apply.

A good working knowledge of relevant state and local government legislation, including the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; and knowledge/understanding of the planning process, including the assessment of complex developments would also be valuable.

SVC Panel Members represent the interests of the Snowy Valleys region by participating in briefings and meetings scheduled for the SRPP regarding Development Applications, Modification Applications, and/or Planning Proposals.

Panel members receive remuneration under guidelines established by the NSW Government and the current rate for panel members is $600 per meeting including GST which includes costs associated with preparation for meetings and any site inspections.

The SRPP is a group of experts that independently decide on regionally significant development applications and is made up of members appointed by the State Government and Council.

Councillors Hugh Packard and David Sheldon were recently appointed as Council representatives with two more spots now available for community members to join as alternates.

Having more members in the SVC pool will make it easier for the Panel Secretariat to select panelists with the most relevant skills and experience to determine an application.

Expressions of interest can be made in writing and addressed to the Executive Manager Growth and Development, Snowy Valleys Council by email at [email protected].

For more information on what to include in your EOI visit www.svc.nsw.gov.au/EOI.  Applications close on 29 November 2024.
