Garage Sale Trail Coming to Community Halls This November
Published on 08 October 2025
Snowy Valleys Council is bringing the Garage Sale Trail to local community halls this November, helping residents and community groups declutter and fundraise, all while reducing waste.
Mayor Julia Ham said the hall events are another example of Council’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and waste reduction.
“It’s the perfect way for people with some pre-loved items to make a few dollars without the hassle of hosting their own garage sale,” Mayor Ham said. “Every item that’s reused is one less that ends up in a landfill.”
Recognising that not everyone has space or wants to host a sale at home, Council is inviting households, schools, community groups and local businesses to take part in the hall garage sales being held in Tumbarumba and Tumut.
Stall spaces are free and a trestle table will be provided to the first 20 registrations at each venue. All items for sale must be second-hand, keeping the focus on reuse and rehome.
Hall event details:
- Saturday 8 November - RSL Memorial Hall, Tumbarumba
- Saturday 15 November - Anglican Church Hall, Tumut
Each event will also feature a coffee van and local community groups are invited to get in touch with council if they’d like to run a BBQ fundraiser.
Council is once again proud to support the Garage Sale Trail, Australia’s biggest community reuse event. In addition to the hall sales, residents can also host their own garage sales over two big weekends - 8/9 and 15/16 November.
Book your hall stall or register your garage sale via Council’s website www.svc.nsw.gov.au/events.
The Garage Sale Trail is a national initiative that encourages Australians to buy, sell and reuse items instead of throwing them away. Last year, the Trail brought together more than 300,000 people at over 14,000 garage sales and markets across the country, helping reduce waste and build stronger, more sustainable communities.
