Snowy Valleys Council has agreed to fund the installation of a raw water pipeline at the Twickenham Rugby League Complex in Tumut.

Mayor Cr James Hayes said all councillors supported the decision and that the provision of raw water will help to ensure that the grounds can be maintained in good condition and to a safe playing standard.

“The Twickenham oval is an essential part of our community with the grounds hosting more than 1,000 sports people and supporters each year. The raw water supplies will enable the Tumut Blues Rugby League Football Club to continue the great work they do in keeping the grounds in good condition,” he said.

Council will allocate $15,000 from the Water Fund to supply and install the infrastructure required to supply the raw water to the Twickenham Complex and will provide up to $10,000pa for the provision of approximately 10Ml of water per year for the next five years.

Council’s Executive Director Infrastructure Heinz Kausche said the next step was to discuss the installation with the land managers and seek their approval to undertake the work.

“Council staff will work together with the land managers and the Tumut Blues Club to facilitate the installation of a pipeline, meter and access point for the raw water supply, he said.
