Snowy Valleys Council is looking to award three local students with a $3,500 scholarship each to assist with their studies at Charles Sturt University next year.

“We believe helping local students study in the region makes it easier for them to succeed at university,” said Mayor of Snowy Valleys Council, Cr James Hayes. “It also increases the possibility of returning home once they’ve graduated to carry out their future career and contribute to their local communities.”

The Snowy Valleys Council Scholarship rewards students who have done well in their studies, had a positive involvement in their community and recognises career paths that may have positive benefit to the local region.

The three successful applicants will each receive $3,500 to assist with University costs and there is no restriction on how recipients utilise the scholarship funds.

“Applications are now open and the scholarships are a great opportunity to offset some of the costs for those who have chosen to study at Charles Sturt,” continued Mayor Hayes. “We encourage students who are starting their university study to apply, but continuing students are also eligible to do so.”

The Snowy Valleys Council Scholarship is run through the Charles Sturt University Foundation Scholarships program, and over the years has been successful in supporting many local students with their studies.
