Tumbarumba families can look forward to a very different swimming pool complex next summer with Snowy Valleys Council releasing the design plans for the upgrade of the water play pool and construction of a new learn-to-swim pool.

Executive Director Infrastructure, Heinz Kausche says the upgrades will see the existing toddler pool replaced with a combined learn-to-swim pool and splash pad area for babies and young children.

“Council expects the project will increase the patronage of the Tumbarumba pool by young families and be inviting to people from outlying rural areas and visitors,” Mr Kausche said.

“The improvements and new pool will also free up the existing 28 metre pool to be utilised more as a lap pool as well as a leisure pool,” he said.

The existing toddler pool and concourses will be demolished and replaced with a 4m x 4m baby pool, an 11m x 4m splash zone with water toys and a 15m x 6.5m learn-to-swim pool which will also cater for aqua aerobics.

Snowy Valleys Council received funding of $928,000 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Funds Round Two.

Mr Kausche said the project is due to be completed by 31 October 2020, in time for the 2020/21 Summer season.

“Our aim is for the new-look Tumbarumba Swimming Pool Complex to be a highly valuable asset for the community and provide an exciting new space for all to enjoy”.

Council is currently seeking request for tender on the design and construct of the new pools.
