Construction of a baby pool, water-play area and learn-to-swim pool at the Tumbarumba Swimming Pool Complex is underway.

The upgrades will include a baby pool, a splash zone with water toys based upon a firefighting theme and a learn-to-swim pool which will also cater for aqua aerobics.

Executive Director Infrastructure, Heinz Kausche said, “The upgraded modern swimming complex will contribute to the health and wellbeing of families, young people and visitors to Tumbarumba over the summer months.

“The innovative design includes a glass fence between the splash pad and program pools to prevent younger children falling in to the deeper water of the program pool and will also free up the existing 28 metre pool to be utilised more as a lap pool,” Mr Kausche continued.

In addition to the new pool, the project includes shade structures over the baby pool and social seating area, installation of a disabled chair lift, new concrete concourses and improvements to the café social zone.

A new filtration plant and plant room will be constructed to service the combined toddler/leisure pool and learn-to-swim pool.

Works have started with demolition and the removal of the existing shade structure, toddler pool and some of the concourses. Two trees have also been removed to accommodate the upgrade.

“The upgrade works are scheduled to be completed for residents and visitors to enjoy during this summer’s swimming season,” Mr Kausche said.

Snowy Valleys Council received funding of $928,000 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Funds Round Two for the upgrade works.
