Call for Expressions of Interest for Disability Inclusion Working Group

Council is inviting expressions of interest from individuals with lived experience of disability to contribute to a newly established Disability Inclusion Working Group.

Unlike traditional committees, the Disability Inclusion Working Group will not require members to attend regular meetings. Instead, Council is seeking to build a network of individuals who can be consulted on an as-needed basis, providing valuable insights and feedback when specific disability-related perspectives are required.

The initiative is part of Council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring its services, programs, and initiatives are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of people with disability.

Acting General Manager Jessica Quilty said the working group will help to embed inclusive thinking across the organisation.

“This working group will allow us to check in with the right people at the right time, whether it's reviewing a new policy, planning an event, or designing a public space,” Ms Quilty said.

Expressions of interest are encouraged by people with a diverse range of disabilities and lived experiences, as well as carers and professionals working in the disability sector.
