Snowy Valleys Council has secured funding through the NSW Severe Weather and Flood Grant from the NSW Office of Local Government to develop a masterplan for Adelong’s main street.

A positive start to the project was made recently when Cr James Hayes and local representatives from the Adelong Services Club, Bendigo Bank, the Post Office, and the Adelonia Theatre met with Council’s Project Manager on site in Adelong to discuss the master planning process.

The masterplan will combine landscape architecture and engineering designs and once complete will enable Council to make future applications for grant funding to undertake construction works.

The Stakeholder Group showed strong support for the project and are eager to move it to a shovel-ready stage.

Key design streetscape elements to be shaped by local input include safety improvements, drainage, material and colour finishes, public art and landscaping preferences.

The masterplan project primarily aims to develop enhanced drainage designs to assist during rain events (excluding major creek flooding) and improve overall safety and usability.

Council is also consulting with Transport for NSW, the road asset owner, to help shape a clear design brief.

Community members interested in joining the Adelong Stakeholder Group for this project are encouraged to reach out to Council’s Project Manager Phillip McMurray on 1300 275 782
