Snowy Valleys Council, on advice from WaterNSW today announced that the previously issued high level algal warning (Red Alert) at Mannnus Lake has been lifted.

Council’s Executive Director Infrastructure Heinz Kausche said analytical results have confirmed that concentrations of the blue-green algae had declined to low levels prompting the lifting of the red alert.

“A surveillance mode is now in place and Council will continue to monitor algae levels at the Lake’s Pontoon and the Outlet, along with additional sites as appropriate,” Mr Kausche said.

Livestock owners are reminded to continue to check stock water supplies for blue-green algae and to remove stock from foreshores if surface scums becomes visible or blue-green algae are suspected.

“We would also ask users to take notice of any changes in the water appearance which may be of concern and to let us know,” Mr Kausche said.

People who believe they may have been affected by blue-green algae are advised to seek medical advice accordingly.
