On Saturday, 26 October, the Snowy Valleys will come alive as the Bloom Festival transforms the night into a dazzling celebration of light, art, and culture.

From 5 pm to 10 pm at Elm Drive, Tumut, festival-goers can immerse themselves in interactive light displays, live performances, creative installations, cultural activities, and a variety of local food and beverage options.

Funded by the NSW Government and hosted by Snowy Valleys Council in partnership with Business Snowy Valleys, this vibrant, free event promises a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all ages.

Festival Highlights

The Bloom Festival features an exciting array of attractions that will captivate visitors:

  • Crazy Big Theremin: Step into a mesmerising sea of light, smoke, and sound with this interactive installation. Created by audio engineer and lighting designer Adam Boon, the Crazy Big Theremin utilises one of the world’s most unique instruments—the theremin, an electronic musical instrument played without physical contact.
  • Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail Art Installation: Join sculpture artist Robyn Veneer-Sweeney and local students as they bring creative visions to life. Using mostly recycled and repurposed materials, the sculptures reflect the shapes of modernism and semi-abstraction, as well as floral garden themes. Festival visitors can also participate by crafting their own pieces to contribute to this evolving artwork.
  • Giant Interactive Lanterns: Discover stunning custom animal lanterns blending traditional lantern design, sculpture, and illustration. These luminous works of art will illuminate Rotary Pioneer Park, offering a magical experience for all.
  • Lantern-Making Workshops: Children and families can craft their own lanterns to hang from nearby trees, lighting up the night with joy and color. These workshops are led by the local Lanterns on the Lagoon group and The Lanternist.

In addition to these captivating installations, the festival will feature live music, food trucks, a liquor zone showcasing local Snowy Valleys’ suppliers, and an abundance of art, workshops, and interactive activities—providing adventure and fun for the entire family.

Free Transport

To ensure everyone can join in the festivities, Council is offering free buses to and from Khancoban, Tumbarumba, Batlow, Adelong, Talbingo, Gundagai, and Brungle. Visit the Bloom website to reserve your seat and secure your place at this unforgettable event. www.bloomsnowyvalleys.au

Support from the Open Streets Program

The Bloom Snowy Valleys Festival is made possible thanks to $150,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, part of the Vibrant Streets Package. This initiative temporarily closes streets to vehicles, opening them up to people with placemaking activations that inject vibrancy into our local communities. The program aims to create thriving spaces that support businesses, the creative sector, and the community through events and activations.

Minister for Roads, Arts, Music and the Night-Time Economy, Jobs and Tourism John Graham said:

“We’re excited to support this event in Tumut.

“Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. Our streets are a critical part of our public and social infrastructure. Great streets make great towns and centres and reflect the local community and culture.

“The Open Streets program is about temporarily transforming our main streets into vibrant and welcoming public event spaces.

“The colour and diversity of these 130 events celebrates the unique personality of each town or suburb. This is what our vibrancy agenda is all about, backing locals to create events and entertainment that works for their local community.”
