Boil Water Notice For Talbingo
Published on 11 July 2025
Talbingo residents are advised to boil their tap water used for drinking or to use bottled water until further notice due to a treatment plant process failure.
Snowy Valleys Council advises that, due to a treatment process failure, water quality (turbidity) that does not meet the required standard has been supplied into the water network.
Council is working closely with Health NSW to resolve the situation as soon as possible and additional testing is being undertaken until the situation is resolved.
The boil water notice will stay in effect for at least 7 days or until Council staff and NSW Health are confident there is no public health concern.
Consuming un-boiled drinking water may potentially lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. those who are very young, elderly or immune compromised).
People should use cooled boiled water or bottled water for:
- drinking
- brushing teeth
- washing and preparing food or beverages
- preparing baby formula
- making ice
- bathing infants
Un-boiled drinking water can be used for:
- showering and bathing other than infants (but minimise water in the mouth)
- washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher, provided dishes are air-dried
- washing clothes
- flushing toilets
Always bring drinking water to the boil and then allow the water to cool before using or storing it in a clean, closed container for later use. Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable for producing boiled water. Variable temperature kettles should be set to boil.
Updates will be provided on Council’s facebook page and website. Residents may also email [email protected] to register for email notifications.
Anyone concerned about their health is advised to contact their local medical professional.
