Local businesses, community groups and growers/producers in the Snowy Valleys region are being invited to become involved in the inaugural Snowy Valleys’ Winter Bites Festival.

Snowy Valleys Council’s Place Activation staff and event co-ordinator Belinda King, will be holding information sessions to discuss the expected benefits to the region and ways in which local groups and individuals can be involved in the festival.

Council’s Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton said, “there are various ways people can be involved, including as exhibitors, by hosting a Winter Bites fringe event before or after the main Festival or by being a Winter Bites Ambassador and supplier to event stalls and caterers”.

Kicking off in Tumbarumba on June 5th, continuing in Adelong on July 17th and finishing in Batlow on August 28th 2021, the events are a new addition to the annual Snowy Valleys events calendar, with an aim to draw visitors to the region during the beautiful but quieter winter months.

Work is progressing on signing headliner acts and developing contingency plans if COVID restrictions are tightened again during Winter.

The information sessions will be held in:

  • TUMBARUMBA: Tuesday 9th February from 6pm at the Tumbarumba Memorial Hall, Winton St, Tumbarumba
  • ADELONG: Wednesday 10th February from 6pm at the Adelong S&C Club, Tumut St, Adelong
  • BATLOW: Thursday 11th February from  6pm Batlow Literary Institute, Pioneer St, Batlow

Interested parties can register their attendance by emailing [email protected]

Snowy Valleys Council received funding through the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery (RTBR) Grants in 2020 for the development and delivery of three single-day events in Adelong, Batlow and Tumbarumba. These towns were selected as they were significantly impacted by the Dunn's Road Bushfire.
