Caravan parks and camping grounds close

Acting on Government advice Snowy Valleys Council has today closed all council maintained camping grounds, RV sites and caravan parks.

CEO Matthew Hyde said the council owned Tumbarumba Caravan Park would remain open to essential workers and displaced travellers already on-site but would not be accepting any new bookings.

Mr Hyde said work would continue at the Batlow Caravan Park to open it for seasonal workers and temporary accommodation for local bushfire affected residents.

“We are abiding by the restrictions put in place by the Government while balancing our continued support for our bushfire affected communities,” he said.

“We hope to have more information to share soon regarding the available of the cabins being offered for emergency housing”.

Signs advising the closures and reinforcing COVID-19 social distancing and hygiene measures are being erected at each location.

Council has also placed signs at sporting grounds, playgrounds, skate parks, pump tracks and picnic facilities across the region reminding people to adhere to social distancing requirements.

Council maintained holiday facilities closing today (Thursday 26 March) are:

  • Mannus Lake campsite
  • Jingellic campsite
  • Towong campsite (NSW side of the Murray River)
  • Bringenbrong Reserve
  • Paddy’s River
  • Paddy’s Falls
  • Henry Angel
  • RV sites in Adelong and Batlow
  • Tumbarumba Caravan Park
