Community members are invited to have their say on a draft management policy that describes how Council will manage its community and recreational facilities and how the community can access these facilities in an equitable way.

Snowy Valleys Council is keen to encourage more frequent use of its community and recreational facilities by enabling a broader range of user groups to have access to the facilities all year round.

The Draft Community and Recreational Facilities Management Policy provides a framework to enable the community and user groups to occupy Council's community and recreational facilities in a shared-use arrangement that optimises the facility’s use.

The draft policy includes a range of suggested principles to ensure that user groups and individuals have fair and equitable access to the Council’s community and recreational facilities while building community capacity to run a variety of services and programs that the council cannot provide or fully fund from within its own resources.

Community facilities are vital for service delivery, social interaction, connectedness, and place-making and it is important that they remain relevant and can cater to a range of community and sporting groups.
