Residents of Khancoban and visitors to the region will now benefit from the opening of a new business within the Khancoban General Store trading as the Pickled Parrot Providore.

Council’s Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton stated, “The opening of the Pickled Parrot Providore has been the culmination of over two years of work by Snowy Valleys Council to find a suitable occupant for the General Store building and provides a new opportunity for the township and the region.

“Staff have worked closely with the new occupants at all stages of the project and we are extremely proud of the outcome achieved.

“We believe this a gamechanger for the region that will encourage sustainability and tourism growth and we wish the Pickled Parrot Providore owners all the very best for a successful enterprise”.

The vacant store space was identified as a priority issue by the Khancoban community resulting in Snowy Valleys Council purchasing the building in 2018 and undertaking shop front refurbishments with $199,000 in funding secured from the NSW Government's Major Projects Infrastructure fund.

The Pickled Parrot Providore is a General Store and Café featuring locally sourced fruit and veg and locally produced gourmet products as well as all the grocery essentials and locally roasted coffee.
