The Snowy Valleys Council Live and Local Program is thrilled to have the award-winning Fanny Lumsden agree to share her journey as a self-managed artist at an upcoming professional development event.

Council is hosting a couple of free development events in the coming weeks including a session with Fanny Lumsden at the Tumut River Brewing Co. on Saturday 26th March.

Famous for doing things her own way, Fanny is the perfect person to speak to emerging and established artists about DIY Music Management.

From small beginnings where Fanny first appeared on stage and didn't even know how to plug in her guitar, to her journey to becoming an ARIA winner and 8x Golden Guitar winner, Fanny Lumsden certainly knows a thing or two about DIY Music Management.

Along with her husband and business partner Dan Stanley Freeman, Fanny and Dan started their own record label and touring company (Red Dirt Road Records / Productions) and self-manage the wildly successful Country Halls Tour, which has played to approx. 180 halls all over regional Australia and celebrates 10 years of touring this April.

A free professional development session on how to book gigs will be held with a panel of local music industry professionals on Saturday 2 April at the Batlow RSL Club.

Attendees will hear from Union Hotel Tumbarumba manager, Martin Wilton; Rock The Turf festival organiser and owner of Snowy Sound Surgery, Clayton Denson; and established local solo artist, Andrew Wörtz.  The panel discussion will be facilitated by artist manager and Snowy Valleys Council Live and Local Curator, Samantha Taylor.

Local artists and anyone interested in the music scene are encouraged to attend the events where they’ll gain firsthand experience on what it takes to develop your own management style and book your own gigs.

There will be opportunities for Q&A, plus time to network after the presentations to get to know those involved in the local Snowy Valleys music scene.

The Live and Local program aims to be a capacity building program designed for local grassroots live music communities including musicians, businesses, venues, and local industry workers. Professional Development presented by MusicNSW.

Live and Local is presented by Snowy Valleys Council in partnership with the Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS. The program was funded by Create NSW on behalf of the NSW State Government and managed in partnership by the Live Music Office.
