Carcoola Children’s Centre has an extra $20,000 to go towards upgrading their younger children playground thanks to the generosity of a local family.

Local mum, Jacinta Bradley entered the OMO Outdoor Classroom Day competition on behalf of the Carcoola Children’s Centre and was lucky enough to win $20,000.

“I saw the competition advertised and thought how good it would be if we could win the money and upgrade the playground at the center and I couldn’t believe our luck when the winners were announced,” said Ms Bradley.

Snowy Valleys Council’s Manager Community Services Tracy Wiggins said it was clever thinking by Jacinta to enter the competition on behalf of the Centre and that now the whole community would benefit from the prize money.

“We are very thankful to Jacinta for her generosity and the prize money will go towards upgrading the Centre’s playgrounds which will help to ensure the area meets current standards and is a safe place for the children to explore and enjoy as part of their learning environment,” Ms Wiggins said.

The Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play. On the day, thousands of schools around the world take lessons outdoors and prioritise playtime. As part of the celebration OMO gave away a share of $120k to be split between school winners across Australia.

The Carcoola Children’s Centre in Tumbarumba is a long day-care centre providing education and care for children aged six weeks to school aged.  The Centre also offers before and after school education and care during school terms.
