Residents and visitors in the Snowy Valleys region can now keep up to date with real-time information to help them be aware of, prepare for and respond to local emergencies - thanks to the launch of a new ‘Get Ready Disaster Dashboard’.

Snowy Valleys Council CEO Matthew Hyde said, “The new dashboard enables people to make informed decisions during times of disaster and extreme weather events.

“Localised emergency updates, preparedness advice and seasonal awareness of potential risks is more important than ever and the dashboard provides easy access to information all in one central location,” he said.

The Dashboard shows everything you want to know in one place, using the most up-to-date and reliable information available from Emergency Services, RFS and other Government websites.

On the dashboard you’ll find:

  • real-time information related to live emergencies
  • information to help you prepare for an emergency
  • guidance on the assistance you can access to recover from a recent emergency

“I would encourage everyone in the Snowy Valleys to consider it as their first source of trustworthy information. It will help you to make informed and safe decisions about the situation at hand,” said Mr Hyde.

The Regional Disaster Preparedness Program, coordinated by Resilience NSW, works with local governments to build their knowledge of disaster risks and ability to respond in an emergency.

The Disaster Dashboard is an online warehouse of real-time, local emergency information supported by Resilience NSW’s Regional Disaster Preparedness Program and rolled out to 27 councils across the state, including Snowy Valleys Council.

The local dashboards will deliver information specific to the disaster risks and mitigations of localities in each pilot program LGA and provide a broad and consistent view of data from across the 27 pilot councils in the Canberra, Hunter and Mid North Coast Joint Organisations.
