Snowy Valleys Council has announced changes to operational hours at some of its Resource Recovery Centres (RRC).

The changes are part of an approved series of service reductions aimed at ensuring financial sustainability over the coming 12 months.

Council manages six RRCs across the region and the changed operating hours apply to centres at Adelong, Batlow, Khancoban and Talbingo which will all now open two days per week.

The Tumbarumba centre will continue to open four days per week and the Tumut RRC will operate five days a week.

Residents can visit any RRC during operating hours to drop off green waste (including FOGO), recycling and general waste.

Community Recycling Centres (CRC) within the Tumbarumba and Tumut centres also provide permanent free drop-off for common household problem waste including chemicals, e-waste, batteries, household paint and cooking oil.

The container deposit scheme Retun & Earn and the Tumut Re-use Shop also all operate within the Tumut RRC.

From September 2024 the new RRC opening hours are:

  • Adelong: Thursday 3pm to 5pm and Sunday 1pm to 4pm
  • Batlow: Thursday 11am to 2pm and Sunday 8am to 12pm
  • Khancoban: Friday 3pm to 5pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm
