Snowy Valleys Council hosted the Snowy Valleys Pop-up Recording Studio Sessions in January 2022 providing attendees the opportunity to hone their song writing skills, record their music and shoot their own music video clip.

Council’s Executive Director Community and Corporate Paul Holton said the pop up was developed for budding musicians and singer song writers aged 12 to 25 years.

“We had a great response to the initiative with 25 young artists from across the region registering their interest in the sessions,” he said.

The pop up visited the Snowy Valleys for 10 days during the January 2022 School Holidays.

David Blake from Montvile Lane Sessions and Australian songwriter, performer, recording artist and youth mentor Cameron Deyell mentored the attendees with a fully equipped studio, song writing workshops and recording sessions.

Council also partnered with the Tumbafest Committee to provide live performance opportunities for the artists at this year’s festival.

“Tumbafest has been thrilled to be involved in such a fantastic program in conjunction with Snowy Valleys Council for the youth of the Snowy Valleys region.” said festival spokesperson Karly Flynn.

“We are always looking at ways to give back to our community and are really excited by the talent that has been highlighted as part of this program. One day they may be our next headline performer!”

Mr Holton said that while not everyone who registered was able to attend the sessions, due to Covid restrictions, council had received positive feedback from those who were able to participate.

“Our Place Activation Team continues to assist those artists in further local performing and PR opportunities where they can showcase their talents,” he said.
